DESCRIPTION

Casting improv ensemble members for the Wyldewood Players, an immersive and interactive improv comedy troupe for the Sterling Renaissance Festival in Sterling, New York, a 35-acre themed festival site recreating Shakespeare's England. Members will perform a cross-section of characters from Shakespeare's England, from Queen Elizabeth I to wenches and beggars, performing devised comedy shows, interactive scenarios, lane encounters, and immersive improv performances on period environments and stages.

Ten-week contract, June 11 to August 20, nine pay periods. (Two weeks rehearsal stipend of $350/wk., and seven weeks performance pay of $500/wk.) Housing is provided. iiTP (Interactive and Immersive Theatre Performance) certification awarded. NY UI, Workman's Comp.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Go to Room 16Q. Arrive at beginning of open call time if you can, you will be scheduled a specific group time. One-minute comic monologue, improv to follow. Bring resume and photo. Dress to move. Same-day call back possible.

You will be asked to fill out an audition card with contact info, and to detail any experience in Interactive and improvisational shows. Audition groups of four will be scheduled for a 30 minute audition that will include a group improv session. You may be asked to return later in the day to improv with a curated group.

MINORS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT

Looking for actors with professional experience and excellence in one or more of these skills: comedic acting, Shakespeare, comedy improv, sketch comedy, street performance, interactive and immersive theatre performance; strong, confident, sociable, and self-directed actors with the desire and ability to rehearse and perform in outdoor venues, and to be a positive and resourceful part of a close-knit ensemble of creative performers.
