DESCRIPTION


The Wagon Wheel Theatre is looking for its 2024 team of technicians!

To produce another summer of Broadway-quality theatre, we are seeking to fill the following positions: Stitchers/Wardrobe/Stitcher. The season includes Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Kiss Me Kate, The Wedding Singer, Murder on the Orient Express, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. The Wagon Wheel is an 830 + seat theatre-in-the-round which is supported by a live orchestra during musical productions. Each production runs for 10 days, with only 4 days between productions.

Summer contract details:


  • May 17th - August 2nd, approximately 11 weeks (willing to be flexible for students). Some contracts may be extended based on crew needs for the last show.

  • Pay Starts at $400 per week (Housing is provided).

Stitcher ($400 per week/housing included):

The Stitcher is responsible for working with the Costume Shop Manager/Costume Designer in the execution of the vision of each production. Stitches and finishes all assigned costumes, cutting, measuring, assembling, building, pulling costumes and accessories under the supervision of the Costume Shop Manager.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Sewing assigned costumes by machine or hand

  • Assisting in fitting, stitching, or other assigned costume duties.

  • Maintaining and altering costumes as assigned


  • Maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

  • Assisting with Strike for each production.

  • Maintaining the organization and storage of costumes/accessories.

  • Report any problems with deadlines, materials, or equipment to the Shop Manager or Costume Designer.

  • Follow procedures and policies of Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts.

  • Any other tasks as requested by the Costume shop Manager, the Costume Designer, or TD.

Skills:


  • Demonstrated experience in machine and hand sewing techniques.

  • Proficiency in commercial and industrial sewing machine operation.

  • Excellent garment construction skills.

  • Ability to follow precise directions in a timely manner.

  • Show an ability to learn and grow within the working environment, all while maintaining a healthy positive attitude.



Wardrobe/Stitcher ($400 per week/housing included):

The Wardrobe/Stitcher is responsible for working with the Costume Shop Manager and Stage Manager on the wardrobe run crew for each production. Assisting with quick changes, presets, repairs, laundry, under the supervision of the Costume Shop Manager and Stage Manager.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assisting with quick changes, presets, strike of costumes before/during/after each production.

  • Making repairs before, during, and after each show.

  • Laundering and dry cleaning for each performance. Including any ironing, steaming, starching, hanging, folding, of items.

  • Ability to follow a run sheet.

  • Working as a stitcher in the Costume shop when Wardrobe duties are completed, or if extra help is needed.

  • Assisting with the Strike of each production.

  • Ability to work with a group.

  • Maintaining the organization and storage of costumes/accessories.

  • Maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

  • Report any problems with deadlines, materials, or equipment to the Shop Manager or Artistic Director.

  • Follow procedures and policies of Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts.

  • Any other tasks as requested by the Costume shop Manager, Stage Manager, or TD.

Skills:


  • Demonstrated experience in machine and hand sewing techniques.

  • Able to follow precise directions in a timely manner.


  • Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure.

  • Ability to be self-sufficient and self-motivated.

  • Ability to prioritize and have good time management.
